Una fotografa e il suo editore in mostra da MiCamera, libreria e galleria fotografica di Milano.
Un mese dedicato alla casa editrice tedesca fondata nel 1995 da Klaus Kehrer e oggi tra le edizioni più conosciute in campo fotografico, con artisti che vanno da Thomas Ruff a Nina Poppe.
Kehrer Verlag è uno dei sei editori europei che promuovono il premio European Publishers Award for Photography, importante iniziativa che mira a sostenere la pubblicazione di progetti fotografici contemporanei.
La prima mostra di Jessica Backhaus in Italia. Una delle voci più raffinate nel panorama della fotografia tedesca contemporanea, ha esposto in tutto il mondo e pubblicato cinque monografie con Kehrer.
MiCamera presenterà una selezione dei diversi lavori, inclusa un’anteprima del lavoro in via di pubblicazione.
Una mostra, un dibattito con il pubblico, un workshop, booksigning e libri in esposizione per oltre un mese.

Gli oggetti dimenticati, la tappezzeria scollata di una vecchia casa, il sole che filtra tra i rami degli alberi, il volto della gente qualunque, e ancora i dettagli di un'intimità che solo l'occhio educato al 'saper guardare' trasforma in immagini.
Se é vero che fotografare un soggetto eclatante ci illude di realizzare una grande opera, é altrettanto vero che spesso i risultati migliori si ottengono lasciandosi sedurre da ciò che è intorno a noi, dalle piccole cose.
Forma, luce e colore descrivono in maniera incisiva e del tutto naturale il racconto visivo di Jessica Backhaus, il cui lavoro è il risultato di un equilibrio perfetto tra ispirazione poetica e grande precisione.
Per la prima volta in Italia, la mostra è curata da Giulia Zorzi e Flavio Franzoni e presenta opere appartenenti a diversi corpi di lavoro. Non mancherà un’anteprima del nuovo progetto, in via di pubblicazione.

A photographer and her publisher on display at MiCamera, bookstore and gallery based in Milan, Italy.
A month dedicated to Kehrer Verlag, founded 1995 by Klaus Kehrer and today recognized as one of the most well-known art and photography publishers, with artist ranging from Thomas Ruff to Nina Poppe.
Kehrer Verlag is one of the six European imprints promoting the European Publishers Award for Photography, a major initiative to encourage the publication of contemporary photography.
The first exhibition by Jessica Backhaus in Italy. One of the most distinguished voices in contemporary photography in Germany today, exhibited worldwide, Backhaus has published five books with Kehrer.
MiCamera will present a selection from different bodies of work, including a preview of her new work.
An exhibition, an open talk, a photography workshop, booksignings and many wonderful photo books on display for over one month. The open talk with Klaus Kehrer and Jessica Backhaus will take place on Thursday, March 1st at 7pm. A small refreshment will follow.

Forgotten objects, peeling wallpaper in an old house, sunlight filtering through the branches of a tree, the faces of ordinary people, and the details of an intimacy that only an eye well-trained in ‘knowing how to look’ can transform into images.
If it is true that photographing a striking subject can fool us into believing we are creating a great artwork, it is also true that often the best results are achieved by allowing ourselves to be seduced by what is around us, by the small things.
Form, light and color describe in an incisive and totally natural manner the visual story of Jessica Backhaus.
Her work is the result of a perfect balance between poetic inspiration and great precision.
For the first time in Italy, the exhibition, curated by Giulia Zorzi and Flavio Franzoni, will show works belonging to different bodies of work, including a preview of the artist’s new work.
