True Stories è il sottotitolo della collettiva Global Photography, prodotta dal SI FEST e recentemente presentata a Savignano.
Si tratta di un progetto espositivo ideato e proposto da Stefania Rössl e Massimo Sordi, una sorta di ampio osservatorio sulla scena fotografica internazionale che si è tradotto in una collettiva di autori provenienti da ogni parte del mondo.
True Stories è anche il titolo del film diretto da David Byrne dei Talking Heads nel 1986 e fotografato da William Eggleston. Come spiegano i curatori nel testo introduttivo al catalogo, questa non è una citazione casuale. Tutt'altro. E' un riferimento che definisce lo spirito del progetto espositivo, in bilico tra storie vere e una visione di pura invenzione. In altre parole, storie vere o storie inventate tratte dal mondo reale. Sempre i curatori scrivono: Di fronte alla proliferazione di immagini che costantemente ci vengono proposte come lettura dei principali fatti che accadono intorno a noi, questo progetto prende le mosse dalla consapevolezza che spesso gli insignificanti frammenti possiedono la capacità di rivelarci le esperienze più profonde.
Un progetto che a noi è parso di grande valore, non ultimo per la possibilità di vedere lavori di autori decisamente noti ma (ancora) poco esposti qui in Italia. Abbiamo quindi chiesto di poter ospitare una selezione della mostra, prima che partisse per un tour che la porterà in Russia. Dei 18 autori, che a Savignano sono stati presenti con 87 immagini e 5 video, proponiamo nella sede milanese una selezione di 9 autori (7 con progetti fotografici, 2 con video). Un'occasione da non perdere.

True Stories is the subtitle of the collective exhibition Global Photography, produced by SI FEST and recently presented in Savignano.
The brainchild of Stefania Rössl and Massimo Sordi, it is a wide-ranging observatory on the international photography scene, which has become an exhibition of authors from all around the world.
True Stories is also the movie directed by David Byrne of Talking Heads in 1986, which was documented with photographs by William Eggleston. As the curators explain in the catalogue, this is not mere coincidence but rather a reference defining the spirit of the exhibition project, on the borderline between true stories and a vision of pure fantasy - true stories or figments from the real world. In their own words: Given the endless number of images that we are constantly presented with as an interpretation of what is
happening around us, this projects arises from the knowledge that often insignificant details can reveal to us the most significant meanings.
A project that we consider of great value, not least for the opportunity it gives us to see the works of well-known authors not (yet) widely exhibited in Italy. We have therefore asked to host a selection of the exhibition, before it leaves on a tour that will take it to Russia. Of the 18 authors who exhibited 87 photographs and 5 videos in Savignano, we have selected for the exhibition in Milan 9 authors (7 photographic projects, 3 videos). An opportunity that no one should miss.
