with ERIK KESSELS
in collaboration with Phaidon
we celebrate Che Sbaglio! – Italian edition of Failed It!
come to Micamera, buy the book, have a failed drink
and find a selection of Phaidon titles in the bookstore
Erik Kessels celebrates imperfection and failure and shows why they are an essential part of the creative process.
Failed it! celebrates the power of mistakes and shows how they can enrich the creative process. This is part photobook and part guide to loosening up and making mistakes to take the fear out of failure and encourage experimentation.
The book includes over 100 visual examples drawn from Kessels personal collection of artworks and found photographs, along with tips, quotes, anecdotes and wisdom for celebrating with failure.
Erik Kessels (1966) Beside having co-founded and leading a big communication agency based in Amsterdam (KesselsKramer, since 1996), Erik Kessels is an artist – author of My Sister, and of another very personal work, Unfinished Father, that was on display at the Photography Festival in Reggio Emilia and has been nominated for the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2016. He is also a curator (see KesselsKramers’ website for the list of exhibitions), a collector of books and (vernacular) photographs, a publisher, a lecturer. In 2010, Kessels was awarded with the Amsterdam Prize of the Arts and in 2012 elected as the most influential creative of The Netherlands. Among the books published with other imprints: Album Beauty, Mother Nature and Unfinished Father with RVB (the latter nominated in various best-of-2015 lists), Incredibly small photobooks and Terribly awesome photobooks with Paul Kooiker and Art Paper Editions.
The failure party is organized in collaboration with PHAIDON. Thank you!
