MICAMERA ON TOUR. The bookstore on the road
Ninth edition of the photography festival in Reggio Emilia Fotografia Europea– that will open on Friday, May 2nd at 6pm and will last until June 15. Among the exhibitions. Luigi Ghirri‘s Thinking Images. Here the program. During the opening days 2-3-4 May, Micamera is HOST Books, the official bookstore of the Festival, and will move into the beautiful location of the Chiostri di San Pietro.
For this occasion, we have organized a series of events, booksignings and presentations. We will also bring a selection of the titles by Peperoni Books, publisher currently in display at the bookstore in Milan. As usual, it is possible to order a book sending an email to [email protected]

The Photobook: A History Vol. III (Phaidon, 2014) by Martin Parr and Gerry Badger.
The third long-awaited volume dedicated to photobooks was recently published. Gerry Badger will be talking about the selection and the different chapters with Rémi Coignet , critic and blogger (Des Livres et des Photos – Le Monde)

Marina Rosso presents The Beautiful Gene (Fabrica, 2014)
In September 2011, Cryos International, the world’s biggest sperm bank, stopped accepting red haired donors for a period: demand for them was too low compared to the supply. An article in the news was sìthe start of this interesting project by Marina Rosso (born 1985) for Fabrica, recently exhibited at the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and on view until June 3rd at the Museum of Science and Technology in Milan.

One Another is the book that won the last European Publisher Award (2013) and was therefore published by five different European imprints. Among these, the Italian Peliti. Russian photographer Alisa Resnik will be talking with Rémi Coignet, critic and editor of Des Livres et des Photos – Le Monde and Mario Peliti, founder of the imprint. The booksigning will follow.
Before You, Santa Claus, Life was like a Moonless Night (Nazraeli Press, 2013) is the title of the project by Andrea Alessio , recently acquired by the Philadelphia Museum of Art. SYL – Support Your Locals (self published, 2013) is the project that Lorenzo Tricoli dedicated to his neighbourhood in Milan, that represents the changes that the city is undergoing. both projects have been curated by Micamera. A talk with the authors and Giulia Zorzi. The booksigning will follow.
Without a goal. The book as photographic thought is the title of the exhibition dedicated to photobooks and curated by Elio Grazioli. Valeria Accili _ ciao come stai? (self published, 2013), Piergiorgio Casotti_ Sometimes I Cannot Smile (self published, 2013), Amaury Da Cunha _ Après tout (Le Caillou Bleu, 2012), Edward Newton _ Flowers & Weeds (Highchair Editions, 2013), Carlos Cancela Pinto_Natureza, Luz, Homem (Bad Weather Press, 2013) and Eva Vermandel _ Splinter (Hatje Cantz, 2013) will come to the bookshop after their conference and sign their books.
During the opening days of the festival, Paolo Ventura will be exhibiting a series of his artist books at Micamera in Reggio.
The Napoleonic Soldier and other stories (Corraini Editore) is the first part of a wider project. Paolo Ventura will be talking about these and other stories, accompanied by publisher Pietro Corraini

Patrick Zachmann will sign the copies of his last book Mare Mater (Actes Sud, 2014) that focuses in particular on migrants’ relationships to the sea (mare) they had to cross and to the mother (mater) they left.
Jeddah Diary by Olivia Arthur (Fishbar, 2012) opens up the strange and paradoxical world that Saudi girls inhabit. Glimpses into a world that is ordinarily tightly sealed from all outsiders.
